The other day I registered the domain HighFeeCoin.com. The name, as far as I can tell, comes from a brilliant video by Yours.org founder Ryan X. Charles, Maybe High Fee Coin is Actually a Stupid Idea, and it refers to the obscenely high fees Bitcoin has been experiencing over the last year and the community’s refusal to take its seriously.
I do take it seriously though and I’ve made it no secret what side of the Bitcoin scaling debate I am on. I think Bitcoin is first and foremost decentralized digital cash and that it must remain low fee and fast to use. I think that because Bitcoin Core has failed to do this, Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin.
I registered HighFeeCoin.com with no clear idea for what I could use it for, but I thought it could be a valuable asset one day. For now, I’ve redirected it to Bitcoin.org, which up until the other day, still dishonestly claimed on its homepage that Bitcoin has “low processing fees” and “fast transactions.”
My hope is that a few people will have a good laugh and maybe a few more will take it seriously enough to investigate for themselves the Bitcoin scaling debate instead of accepting the slavish dogmatism coming out of the Core community.
If you like this project and want to help pay for further development and domain registration, consider leaving a couple cents (you can do that with BCH after all).
